User-Driven Design of Performing Services
responsabile: Prof. Mario Bochicchio
Effective design of performing business service should be user-driven. However service stakeholders have different and somewhat conflicting interests, that range from the managers’ return (focused on efficiency) to the service customers (focused on the overall effectiveness, and low cost of the service output) to the service workers (focused on the usability and friendly operation of the service system). The aim of the research is to create a methodology and a set of tools for the projects participants, namely business service engineers, ICT engineers and service users. They span from the definition of the business service (and related business process) through a business/user driven requirement elicitation to the identification of software/service components and the service integration architecture. The key points are in jointly defining the service qualitative/quantitative performances together with the functional requirements and the design of the service system. Service qualitative/quantitative performances include typical business metrics but also usability, availability, robustness requirements by a high-level description language. The design process is assisted by some key tools. A reference framework provides indicators metrics for stakeholder classes and industry domains. Additionally a knowledge base provides solution paradigms, design patterns that also final users can compose.
