Curriculum

He was born in Matera (Italy) on 8th of June 1973. He attended the School of Material Engineering at the University of Lecce (Italy), and graduated in 2000 with first class honours.
In May 2000, she awarded a grant for the PhD school in Energetic System and Environment at the Department of Engineering for Innovation of the University of Lecce, Italy in the field of Energy Conversion and received the Ph.D. degree in 2003. His PhD research project dealed with the optimization of a regenerative thermophotovoltaic generator for automotive applications by means of numerical simulations and experimental investigations that were conducted at the Energy and Environment Research Center (CREA) of the Department of Engineering for Innovation.
From October 2001 to April 2002, he attended courses and was involved in a research project at Imperial College (London, U.K.) in the field of energy conversion and heat transfer.
In May 2002 he joined the Faculty of the University of Lecce as Assistant Professor in the field of Applied Physics.

Scientific work experience
from 5/2002 He is Assistant Professor in Applied Physics for Industrial Applications at Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell’Innovazione – University of Lecce
5/2000 – 7/2000 He collaborates with the Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell’Innovazione – University of Lecce for the design of a combustor for high temperature applications for a TPV system.

Coordination of scientific research project:
He is Coordinator of the scientific project: "NANOFLUIDS APPLICATIONS FOR HEAT TRANSFER" (Accordo di Programma Quadro in materia di “Ricerca Scientifica” nella Regione Puglia. Bando di evidenza pubblica in materia di Progetti Esplorativi di Sperimentazione di cui alla delibera di G.R. n. 1170/05). The proposed project deals with the study of very innovative thermal vector fluids, based on the use of nano-particles. The study of this fluids started only few years ago and their physical behavior is not completely known so far. Nevertheless the first studies have shown that such fluids have extremely good heat transfer performance. If confirmed by the experimental campaign, this prerogative opens many perspectives for their application in many different technological and industrial fields such as in the field of energy production, in HVAC systems, in the solar heating and cooling systems, in the cooling systems of the electric and electronic devices and in the MEMS systems.
Considered the wide range of application of these materials, it is easy to foresee a good technological spin-off and an excellent competitivity in the reference market for the companies that reach a good know-how in this sector.
