Exeter University, Exeter (UK). Position in Networks Intra-University co-operation: Collaborations the Department of Engineering is vital, especially with prof. Cingolani and prof. Rinaldi groups for what concerns biosensors area and the exchange of analytical instrumentation. Regional co-operation: Collaborations at regional level include research contracts with local chemical industries for what concerns supercritical fluids tecnique in the extraction of compounds of particular interest.from fruits. International co-operation: The international collaborations include : Ottawa University (Canada) for catalyzed carbonylation and hydroformilation reactions and for the synthesis of new biologically active compounds which exhibit pharmacologically activity. Exeter University (UK) for the synthesis of organic and metallo-organic compounds suitable to form thin films and their use as material for gas sensing. Specific Topics: 1)regioselective carbonylation and cyclocarbonylation of different substrates (also present in nature), hydrogenation reactions in homogeneous and heterogeneous systems; 2)synthesis of organic and metallo-organic compounds and compound of biological interest; 3)preparation of organic and organo-metallic compounds (i.e. phthalocyanines, phorphyrins) suitable to form thin films and their use as meterials for chemio-sensors and bio-sensors; 4) preparation of catalysts TiO2 based containing organic and organometallic sensitizers( i.e. phthalocyanines, phorphyrins);5) preparation of molecular imprinted polimers ( MIP) and theyr use for diffrent purposes ( drug delivery, sensors e biosensors ecc.); 6) extraction of antioxidants from fruits and vegetables.
